Artificial Intelligence and the Drupal Ecosystem

Lots of us are AI curious. But we don’t really know where to start. ChatGPT seems like it is pretty cool. Perhaps you’ve heard the name Anthropic and some dude named Claude? It is all very confusing and things are moving incredibly quickly. Using these tools as a fancy research assistant or as a replacement for search engines is fine and good, but how might you integrate AI tools into your website? What could actually be useful? What could you do that could save your nonprofit time and money?

Here’s what’s cool about DrupalAI - you can do tons of things with it without writing a single line of code. Right now I’m personally in a deep dive into this ecosystem and its astonishing. Over the last month, I’ve helped deliver working demos that:

  • Replace search on a website.

  • Tag and categorize content by scanning the text.

  • Automatically generate alt text for images.

  • Help a writer follow compliance rules/style guides for their organization.

  • Take extremely complex text and distill it to a 6th grade reading level.

I haven’t written any code to do this.

If you want to experiment with these demos, they’ve been plopped here: https://www.amazee.io/try-drupal-ai/. They don’t cost anything try out.

If you are curious about little conferences that will have people in the Drupal community talking about DrupalAI, there are few upcoming that are worth attending - and as a bonus I’ll be at all of them.

  • MidCamp (Chicago, May 20–22)

A welcoming, community-run event with sessions perfect for beginners and nonprofit teams.

  • DrupalCamp Asheville (July 11–13)

A more intimate, hands-on experience that’s great for learning by doing.

  • DrupalCamp Colorado (Denver, July 25–26)

Focused on AI, community health, and case studies—this event often highlights real-world use cases that nonprofit teams can relate to.

  • Drupal GovCon (Bethesda, MD, August 13–15)

This is where a DrupalAI Hackathon is happening. It’ll be a showcase of how far you can take these tools in just a few hours—perfect inspiration for teams thinking about what’s possible.

We're always being asked to do more with less. DrupalAI gives you a way to reduce busywork, increase accessibility, and make your site more effective—all while staying in control of your data and tools.
