What I Bring to the Board: Nonprofit Governance that’s Grounded and Real

If you’ve watched my latest campaign video — “My Nonprofit Governance Experience” — you already know this isn’t theoretical for me.
I’ve been doing nonprofit governance work for nearly two decades. I don’t just talk about board service, I show up for it. I’ve learned the hard lessons, made the tough calls, and helped design the kinds of systems that keep organizations accountable and future-ready.
In the video, I walk through the boards I’ve served on:
Crownpointe Academy – as VP and Secretary, I helped guide the school through a complex transition to independence, fund new infrastructure, and rebuild critical services.
The Drupal Association – I served as an At-Large Director and chaired the Governance Committee. I led work that still shapes the board today: staggering elections, rewriting term limits, and pushing for expanded community representation.
Drupal Colorado – I co-founded this nonprofit to support Drupalcamp Colorado and have kept it going for 18 years. As Chair, I built its governance from scratch, structured its finances, and designed a sustainability model that has outlasted many other local tech nonprofits.
I’m also proud to serve on the Advisory Board for NEXT for Autism, where I mentor neurodivergent youth and help shape inclusive training materials that reach far beyond our immediate community.
Through it all, I’ve held to three core principles of nonprofit board service:
Duty of Care – Show up informed and ready to make sound decisions.
Duty of Loyalty – Put the mission before ego, optics, or personal agendas.
Duty of Obedience – Honor the purpose and values of the organization in every vote you cast.
I’m running for the Drupal Association Board again because I understand the weight of that responsibility — and because I still believe this community deserves clear, values-driven leadership.
If you’re looking for a candidate with deep governance experience and a long history of showing up for Drupal — I hope you’ll consider supporting me.
