Why I’m Running (Again) for the Drupal Association Board

I’m excited to share that I’m running for the Drupal Association Board of Directors in 2025.

If you know me, you know I’ve been part of this community for a long time. Since attending my first DrupalCon in 2007, I’ve built with Drupal, organized events, served on the Association Board, and done my best to show up for this community — whether that’s through governance, code of conduct work, or just helping someone at a sprint table figure out their local dev stack.

This isn’t just tech to me. It’s people. It’s open source. It’s a way of working and thinking that has real-world impact.

Why I’m Running

We’re at an inflection point. AI is changing how we work, fast. Drupal has the potential to lead, not just follow, in how open-source platforms integrate these technologies responsibly, accessibly, and equitably.

At the same time, the human side of our community needs continued care. We need governance that sees the full picture. Inclusion, sustainability, innovation, and the importance of holding space for diverse minds, including those often left out.

I’ve been advocating for neuroinclusion and universal design in tech through talks, podcasts, internal programs, and community events. I see how much better our teams are when we include people who think differently, and I want Drupal to be a model for that.

What I Bring

I’ve built enterprise platforms. I’ve led nonprofit boards. I’ve founded events and working groups. I’m currently organizing a DrupalAI Hackathon and training for GovCon. I serve as the AI Ambassador for amazee.io, working on data-sovereign, open AI tools for Drupal.

Most importantly: I know how to listen, lead, and get things done without making it about me.

If elected, I’ll bring that same energy, clarity, and commitment to the Board.

Let’s Talk

I’d love to hear what matters most to you. Drop me a message, tag me online, or come chat at an upcoming camp. Drupal’s future belongs to all of us — let’s make it strong, inclusive, and ready for what’s next.

Thanks for your support.

– Matthew
